Hoboken is known for being super welcoming and friendly to drone pilots. Have also gotten some amazing images during the day and in the middle of the night. Know your airspace and check the B4UFLY app along with Air Control. The Hudson River is Restricted airspace but there are some pockets where it’s uncontrolled air space.
Air Control is well know for sharing the airspace limits for your drone, B4UFLY is really convenient in limiting the amount steps needed to post your flight and notifying anyone else using the app that there is a drone in the air. However Air Control is best used for getting a LAANC. The two apps complement each other well.
This combined with the super friendly Police Force. All they ask is that pilots have common courtesy and call dispatch the day you fly to give them a heads up that there will be a drone in the air, unfortunately folks will call 911 when they see a drone in the air and it’s helpful when they know.
Hoboken photographs really well:
Enjoy! Remember to fly safe and be mindful of pedestrians and traffic and check the weather via Drone Cast. Sometimes the weather by the water can be challenging when flying because of strong winds.
